I recently started a new job. A job that has me working on a heritage site in the Highlands of Scotland. Now I bet if I asked you if you knew just one thing about Scotland, a fair few of you would mention the weather. There is no getting round it, it does rain up here but, hey ho, we are made of tough stuff and we also know how to dress for it! Over the years I have discovered that if you want clothes that really stand the test of time (and the weather) then there are a few brands that really hold their own and The North Face is one of them. So when Simply Hike got in touch to ask what I thought of their The North Face selection I jumped at the chance to try some new tops out for work.
Women’s 100 Glacier Quarter Zip Fleece – Sidalite Blue (now £36)
I am use to working indoors (in theatres and arts venues) so I was struggling with my new job to find clothes that are suitable for a role that is outdoors as well as office based. I need items that are warm and comfortable as well as neat and professional in appearance and The North Face tops offer all of these attributes and more.
The fleece is extremely soft and surprisingly thin yet it keeps you perfectly warm, making it the ideal lightweight fleece. This has been particularly useful in my new role as it isn’t too bulky for the office yet keeps me warm enough under my jacket when outdoors. I love this shade of blue and the finishing details such as the embroidered logo mean it has a fantastic high-end feel which takes it from sportswear to being appropriate for work also.
Women’s Mezzaluna Full Zip Hoodie – Urban Navy Stripe (now £59.95)
I previously would never have thought that I could wear a hoodie to work however with this The North Face full zip Mezzaluna I can. It is such a neat looking hoodie being made of a lightweight fleece that it doesn’t look bulky and I can wear it as a top or a jacket on warmer days. The hood itself is a great size and protects my hair if a sudden Spring shower catches me out. The two hand pockets are also a good size which is so much better than a lot of other tops I own that simply don’t have pockets. I think it looks neat and professional teamed with black trousers and is so comfy I wear it on my days off with blue jeans too.
