Next week my littlest turns two. Although that means I no longer have any official babies in the house I’m trying to focus on the positives and one of those is the fact that presents get so much cooler once you get past the baby stage. The issue we have in this house however is that my two year old has a four year old brother so she has been playing with toys aimed at older children for some time. Here then, to help any one in a simular situation out, is a list of some great gifts that we are getting Faye for her birthday after a lot of searching to find some special gifts.
Kiddies Kingdom Chicco Pink Arrow Balance Bike (£34.99)
Faye has always been a daredevil and determined to have a shot on anything her big brother is on (and actually more frequently on the things he is a bit nervous to try!) With that in mind I just know she will love her very own balance bike. The vibrant hot pink colour on this Chico bike is just so cool and the attention to detail by the likes of the tire trims matching, make it an extremely stylish bike. The lightweight metal that is used is ideal as Aiden’s first balamce bike looked wonderful and claimed to be suitable from a young age all the way up to five years however to do this it used very heavy metal so Aiden when he was the age Faye is now simply couldn’t use it. This Chico bike is extremely well made and you can feel the quality but it us light as anything so I know Faye will have no bother.
If your kids are anything like mine they will love a good game of role play. Faye especially seems to enjoy acting out things she sees us doing. She already has a whole kitchen and lots of add ons as hand me downs from her brother so I was stuck on a new idea until I saw this simply beautuful garden set. In a sea of plastic toys, I adore that this set is fabric. So soft and enjoyable to touch and safe for visiting little cousins etc. The best bit about this set is just how detailed it is and how the kids can role play a whole gardening activity with it from planting the seeds to the flowers growing and being watered. The soil and flowers are detachable so it really has no limits. Both Faye and her older brother are going to love this one, and no real plants getting decapitated when a mini green fingers want a to help out!
I have loved and raved about WOW Toys since first receiving one as a present for Aiden when he was turning one. They have so many positives and not one negative that I have found yet. So to name but a few: They are motorised but don’t need batteries! Absolutely genius in my eyes. The plastic is coloured rather than painted on so it is near impossible to scratch it off. That first WOW Toy set I mentioned is now three years old and has been well and trully bashed about. It still looks brand new. The little figures are dwsigned with their arms out to stop kids choking on them! Like i said earlier, absolutely genius toys! And what’s more, both my kids adore them. I guarantee this 3 in 1 set will be a firm hit for Faye and I think it also makes an extra nice present as it us boxed beautifully.

When you think of Brio you most likely think of train sets right? Well we have a huge collection of beautiful wooden trains that both my kids still play with but what we are lacking is additional none train elements to add to our play town. As soon as I spotted this seriously sweet camping set from Brio I just knew Faye would love it. It is such a simple idea, as much of Brio is, but it has so many elements to it with the ability for kids to play out whole scenarios even with this lot as a standalone set. Faye loves when little figures actually fit into vehicles so the fact that with this set they can drive the car and sleep in the caravan and go in the kayak, means I imagine it will keep her attention and imagination for a good while.
Aiden recently got a microscope for his birthday and Faye was fascinated with it. She is however still too young really to use a real one. So instead I tho8ght why not at least surround her with good role models and show her that her dolls and toys can be into Science too. The Science handbag kit is so cool especially as Faye loves keeping things in sets, getting them all out and then putting them all away. If she were a bit older I can imagine the nail varnish would be a huge hit so I’ll be saving that element for a few years yet. The packaging on the Mc2 toys is so appealing to kids and I love that it is breaking away from stereotypical options for dolls.
Room to Grow Rainbows and Unicorns Quilted Throw (£24.95)
Children get so many toys that I always like to find a gift or two that isn’t actually a toy but is still something they will be excited to receive. Faye recently moved out of her cot and into her own proper bed. She has absolutely loved the move, so much do that she now often climbs in and out of the bed during the day to use it like a sofa. I don’t mind her doing that but I must remake her bed on average at least 479 times a day! I’m a big fan of throws on our bed as they tie a room together and just look do much neater than duvets, so when I spotted this unicorn one for Faye’s bed I knew it would be a great present for our wee girl. I particularly love that it is also reversible so adds that extra flexibility. The design is also simply beautiful and would suit a huge age range of girls or boys.
As I mentioned with the bed throw, I do always aim to get some practical gifts alongside the kids toys too. This personalised apron with Faye’s name and cute cat on it is certainly practical (ever tried baking with a two year old?!) And also certainly very cute too. I think Faye is going to want to get it used straight away. It us the ideal size for a child and the quality of printed image and the fabric used is really very good. I have no doubt it will stand an awful lot of flower and eggs getting chucked over it and scrubbed off!
